Again, I make an effort. Again, I fail to make the connection. Again, I am left confused. This time though, I wandered semi-aimlessly around Soho and then Union Square in search of a paper. I checked windows, subway platforms, newsstands, grocers. I looked for the right person, empty boxes, stacks of paper, any clue to the whereabouts of The Universal Sigh.
It is here.

though i have been a consistent fan of their music since i started, my own maturity finds the bulk of their ideas to be quite superficial, and in this case, strangely passive. i also find it funny that the only direction they give is what they are NOT obligated to provide — there is nothing IMPORTANT in the confirmation of absence. i imagine the entire procession relies on that of the satirical, which as they seem mistaken, is contrarily distinct, available, and freeing.
I understand that Jay doesn't "get" Radiohead, like he said, he never has; but Nat, what are you talking about when referencing their passivity? The new album? The marketing?
i like the music itself, it inspires. so typically, i would lend my comments strictly to the methods they use to facilitate said music. thing is, those methods suggest some form of interdisciplinary cohesion, where the music AND its surrounding culture is the ultimate "thing." so now, i'm listening to the music of not simply Musicians, but of (supposedly) fully matured Idea Men — and in this context, i find their contribution strangely passive. they ARE hosting the party, are they not?
but it's not passive — i am a dupe. i'm giving 'em the benefit of the doubt. remember what it looked like seeing michael jordan in a batter's box? it's under-realized and vain. it's not a conversation and ideas always are.
