Surely everyone will have their takeaway lines from today's speech but the passage I keep coming back to is the following...
"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. "I'd love to hear everyone's take on the speech.

Random, according to Neilsen's tv ratings the Raleigh-Durham area had the highest percentage of viewers for the inauguration. Number 2? The DC-Hagerstown, MD area.

TV ratings...I'd like to hear the internet factor in there...
I thought the speech was fine. It was classic Obama and it was right on point with things any rational human would want to hear and happen.
I couldn't get over Dick Warren's prayer. I tuned in right in the middle of it. There was something really inappropriate going on there that I couldn't quite place my finger on. For those watching and listening, were we praying too? I just could personally go without all that newer age prayer bullshit. I think at one point he said something about now accepting the Obama's into God's arms, it was like who the fuck is this guy. Thanks for sending me heavenly?
Now call it a "benediction" and let a black guy do and it seems interesting and heartfelt. That guy had better poetry than the poet!
Internet activity in America during his speech peaked to it's highest recorded level in history...1.5million people streamed the speech live on CNN with another 25million streaming it within a 24 hour period from their site...There were an average 4,000 "status updates" on Facebook per minute of his speech with 8,500 "status updates" occuring within the first 60 seconds...NPR's live stream died...and JCrew's website crashed on word that Malia and Sasha Obama were wearing JCrew outfits.
