i heard news of the new transformers — robots with balls, boners, and dog sex — is the landslide of raunch, which seemed to have COMPLETELY given up on humor, a sort of tongue in cheek epitaph to corporate america's expiration? or is it really this dumb?
and you know, i get it — plastic, fast food, britney, EVEN bush — but aren't we ALL watching now? sure, we don't know where we are or where we're going, but i think we've locked pretty much all of our daily feed in its own locker — and that's including the black man.
talk about silent majority — i think its safe to say there is NO representation of any kind (except that of national apathy) in popular culture.
Apparently it's been a exploitative year...Cannes...MTV Movie awards...maybe this is round 2 of that post-war decadence our parents' generation so eagerly indulged.
I'm all about lifting the guilt burden from our backs, but let us not travel the same way we did with Minstrels. You know, like "hey this is black, haha." It's very American of us to deeply internalize and then publicly mock something in order to undertaind and accept it. (that fourth to last word being a mash up of understand and entertain)
I had a very similar reaction. (Nathanael, if I may, in different words) It seems to be a recessperate (recession, desperate) and possibly shameless attempt to do the sex sells thing. I'm not saying GM & Chrysler should have made a sex tape but...The real shame is the Shit that the model is about to put into her mouth...In her motherfuckin' mouth!
ZING! Hilarious comment, Ryan. I think what really makes this ad disgusting is the burger itself. As for the BJ implication, complete with blow-up doll look-a-like model... it's KINDA funny. If this ad was in a porno magazine, I would definitely think it's funny. I'm sure this won't end up in People Magazine or the National Review (although that would also be funny if it did).

I think the ad is only running in Singapore where it would only be a dick joke if the sandwich was 2 inches shorter.
