"Join, or Die"

Paul Giamatti as John Adams, Tom Hanks as producer, based on a Pulitzer prize winning book, sign me up. Saw the trailer for this the other day and I've got to say, I got a feeling this thing is going to be the next great thing in a long running tradition of great things on HBO. So if you're near a TV set at 8 tonight and are a subscriber to the Home Box Office then tune in.

Not too mention Kim was working at the Jefferson while they were filming/writing this deal...she'd come home and be like, "tom hanks likes Earl Grey tea," or something ridiculous like that...or..."that guy from Sideways is waaaaay cool."

I got the first four episodes through work and can confirm that this series is really amazing, inspiring, stirring, etc. Really terrific job showing some great patriotic moments that even Michelle Obama would be proud of.

As great as this special just was I saw advertisements for two more that look just as good. "Recount" based on whatelse but the Florida recount, and "Generation Kill" based off the book of the same name. HBO's on a roll.

I hope HBO is on a roll, with "Sopranos" and "Wire" done and "Curb" on it's way out, I was wondering what they'd come up with next. "In Treatment" sucks. I'm still a subscriber, so I'm hoping they bring it.

Wow - we're ahead of the curve. As of yesterday:

"Carolyn Strauss, a 22-year HBO veteran, has stepped down as entertainment president of the pay cable network. ...

During her tenure at HBO, Strauss oversaw the development and production of such HBO series as "The Sopranos," "Sex and the City," "Six Feet Under," "The Wire," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "En?tourage," "Oz" and "The Larry Sanders Show" and late-night entries "Real Time With Bill Maher," "Dennis Miller Live," "Def Comedy Jam," "Ali G" and "The Kids in the Hall."

I don't get the HBO anymore...boo...so I don't think i'll see it...i'll admit that I'm a little suspect of HBO. The great series' are either over or almost over. In Treatment sucks, that Cincinnati show was terrible, Conchords was funny but hit or miss, just seems like they are moving in the wrong direction, despite this show, which was in production a while back.

Yeah I didn't like the new line up they introduced last year, but everyone's allowed an off year. Lucky Louie was a hit that should've stayed on longer than a season. Rome was great. John Adams has a cast that's unbelievable with David Morse (aka Tritter, the evil cop from House) as George Washington and Tom Wilkinson as Ben Franklin. And I think they're going to hit a goldmine with Generation Kill and Recount airing right as we're going into the election. Besides, as long as Bill Maher has a home on the network, then it'll always be worth shelling out that extra 10 bucks a month.

I just saw the first two episodes of John Adams, and wow, I must admit it was pretty damn great and is highly recommended. Jay, I gots the HBO (on-demand) on the Upper West, and like Ryan said, he's got the first four episodes on DVD, so fret not, you will realize the dream that is the miniseries "John Adams." Paul G. gives a commanding performance, really makes everything seems so dire, but when you're talking about a revolution, I guess there's no other way to put it.

I'm also feeling rather bullish (Wall Street talk for "positive") on HBO's future programming. Though past results are no indication of future returns, HBO does have a lot working for it that network television doesn't have.

Thank you, Brad, for bringing up Rome! Marvelous show.
