Thank you for registering for the new BobDylan.com!

From the wires...

Legendary American musician Bob Dylan will unveil the eighth installment of his Bootleg Series, consisting of late-era outtakes, previously unreleased recordings and live tracks on Oct. 7, media reported Wednesday.

The two-CD, 27-song set, entitled "Tell Tale Signs," features previously unreleased studio recordings, demos, alternate takes, live tracks and rarities spanning 1989 to 2006, a rich period that generated the lauded "Time Out of Mind," "Love and Theft," "Modern Times" and "Oh Mercy."

The first single, "Dreamin' of You" is available for free download when you register for the newly redesigned BobDylan.com. I downloaded it this morning after jumping through not a few hoops and liked what I heard.

Cool song, he sounds really good. I think it starts with lyrics from Not Dark Yet, "the light in this place, is so bad."

Wow, what a treasure chest, this one's gonna be a good one. What a great period to highlight...that box set version is real tempting but $130 is little crazy

I've been listening to a lot of later Dylan stuff too lately, so this will be quite the treat. Doesn't it seem Bob releases an new album every October?

checked out the track listing, looks like fun. the "oh mercy" cuts are gunna be wonderful to hear. the last third of the book he wrote concerns itself with those sessions.

although i can't complain with so much new/unheard music, i was really hoping for a post-2000 period live set, ie. the '66 and '75 sets . . . i'm sure we'll still get plenty o'larry campbell though.

anyone take a chance on the new levon helm that came out a few months ago? larry's all over that too. surprisingly very good, ghostly even. none of that shut-up-neil-you-boring-old-man shit. very few rockers seem to shake that tree.

Don't worry, Nathanael, your post-2000 period live set will be out NEXT October.

kim managed to snag a promo from the radio station which had an extended six minute version of the single. he does sound good, very, very "cool" song. like his best, the literal human condition is most accurately portrayed with the disarrangement of the fantastic.

i did find it odd, as j nodded, that about half the lyrics made it into "standing in the doorway," a favorite. although the lyrical content is relevant, the overall tone, music in priority, is significantly different.

regardless, i do detect a bit of "commercial reaching" to say the least. i noticed the limited/bonus 3rd disc was made up of mostly alternate to the alternate takes (#3's) already on the formal set. could the barrel be lighter than the mystique would suggest? does cynicism come with age? or is it the other way around?

Yea, the whole "levels of commitment thing" stinks of Radiohead, just make the shit available for chrissake, isn't there mystique enough (as I breathe and spit like a rabbid dog).
