Ignorance is Bliss

Has anyone seen Zeitgeist, the Movie/Zeitgeist: Addendum?

Yes, I have seen Zeigeist, the Movie, but not the addendum.

Without going through it piece by piece, my overall thoughts on films like these are, "this is bullshit." I love a conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but to actually make the claims that the US government orchastrated 9/11 on behalf of the Federal Reserve is disgusting. The claims that Christianity as we know it are mostly made up, I agree with, but even in that portion the director/writer mixes truths with fiction.

If you're interested in these films, but don't want to sit in front of your computer for 4 hours, read the wikipedia write up. My favorite critical quote about this movie is this: "Thus legitimate questions about what happened on 9/11, and about corruption in religious and financial organizations, are all undermined by the film’s determined effort to maximize an emotional response at the expense of reasoned argument."

Just because someone puts it on the internet doesn't make it true, but we live in such a fastpaced culture with no attention span that it is easy to come across entertaining mediums that attempt to mislead resonable people for the sake of doing just that.

Like when Fox News airs anything about health care in America.

Hopefully the people who use this site don't need to be told that films on the internet aren't always factual.

After much apprehension, I finally conceded to watch Zeitgeist. It was a bit extreme but fascinating. I also could have done without the WTC attack insider theory (1/3 of the movie) and the general despairing theme.

The other day I caught some of the addendum. i had a much better response than the first one and I liked that new ideas were offered rather than just blowing whistles.

Both films are very interesting to watch to say the least and I'm very curious to hear people's reactions.

Unfortunately, Zeitgeist seems to be somewhat of a doctrine to the impressionable younger audience for which it was intended.

Well if these flicks make people vote for Ron Paul, then I'm all for them.

Jesus Christ, the Ron Paul supporters are at it again?!

I wonder what they use to search - "Ignorance is Bliss" or "Zeigeist." If I were running for office, I wouldn't want my stamp on either.
